I apologize for the absence of Modesty Monday posts.  Life has been extremely busy since Clay’s return from overseas, which you can read about HERE & HERE, and some major family issues sprinkled in, which you can read about HERE and HERE.

My first Modesty Monday post concerned not just modesty, but the modesty of the heart.  THIS post has been shared and pinned on Pinterest more than any post that I have shared.  Modesty begins in the heart.  I can not express in words how genuine and accurate this is.

I brought to you, my beloved readers, Modesty Monday posts each week for several years.  I love talking about modesty and sharing good fashion posts.  However, after Clay returned from overseas this last time, my focus began to shift.  A sincere desire to cherish every family moment was burning in my heart.  As we stopped for pictures to showcase my modest apparel, it felt like a vanity issue.  Don’t get me wrong, I love taking pictures and enjoy my pictures being taken, but the problem was stopping all the time and asking for photos of what I was wearing.  It just didn’t sit right with me.  Writing a post, each week was becoming increasingly difficult while readjusting to Clay’s return, his retirement, and adjusting to life after the military.  Take all that and add in the extended family drama, it was too difficult.

There are times though that I miss sharing those type of posts with you, especially when I look at my timehop and see pictures from old posts shared.  I try to reshare those on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter when I can.

Another reason the Modesty Monday posts were absent was the struggle between skirts/dresses and legalism.  I have never claimed only to be skirts/dresses only, and I have shared a few posts that show outfits of me wearing other things like pants and capris.  Since we started attending Grace Chapel, I have been so liberated of anything that even closely resembled legalism.  It seems each day I grow more and more in the Lord, my heart is so full of Jesus, and that doesn’t revolve around my hemline or my pants, it revolves around my heart.  Sometimes it has seemed almost silly to post about outfits with so much other stuff going on in the world around us.  I know that many of you DO miss those posts, though. Sometimes I do too, although the break has been good. So, I suppose even in this, I need some modesty—for Modest Monday posts.

I have been spending time in prayer with the Lord concerning what would be pleasing to Him.  As of now, I will continue to share seasonal fashion posts as I know many who struggle with putting outfits together.  I will also continue to share posts on how to shop frugally.  Regardless of pants, skirts, or dresses, I will always support and encourage modesty, just not legalism.  Having said that, I think I am going to shift my Modest Monday focus.  I have considered Fashion Friday posts instead of Modest Monday.  What do you think? I have also thought about keeping it the same, Modest Monday, and just doing it seasonal.
